The visual arts at CBA is a high-quality fine arts program that fosters learning in a visual and media age, reinforces social and emotional development, includes standards-based curriculum and assessment, builds cultural literacy, and promotes creativity and innovation.
At CBA, the visual arts enriches the life of every student by developing:
- Visual Intelligence
- Critical Thinking
- Self-expression
- Project Management
- Studio Skills
Students explore a variety of media side-by-side with faculty who are practicing artists, and who view the classroom and studio experience as integral to their artistic development. This five-year sequential program hosts visiting artists, service projects, field trips to local museums, galleries, and art shows, and an annual Art Exposé featuring the work of all art students in grades 7-12.
Students are encouraged and supported to:
- Collaborate in cross-disciplinary projects
- Compete in various art contests and competitions on and off-campus
- Apply to college-prep summer art programs
- Organize a college-ready portfolio
The visual arts studio classroom provides the perfect balance of contemplative arts-based research and community engagement.
