The CBA student body, staff and faculty joined Father Thomas Roach, SJ Senior Priest, St. Andrew’s Hall, to celebrate the Mass of the Holy Spirit in the Lynch Gymnasium on Wednesday, Sept. 21.
The Mass was the first of the new school year for the student body.
The Peer Ministers, led by student coordinators and seniors Claire Hulslander and Braeden Burns introduced this year’s theme, “Brighter Together” based on Psalm 147, verse 4 which says, “He determines the numbers of the stars and calls them each by name.”
“Each of us is unique, just like each of the stars,” Hulslander remarked “This year let us strive to shine forth the light and goodness from within, out to our classmates, our families, and our community. God’s love burns intensely for each one of us and will shine forth if we allow it to do so.”
“Today’s liturgy is a Mass of the Holy Spirit,” Burns said. “God’s Spirit will help us to recognize our unique gifts and talents. As long as we are open to God’s Spirit, our lives can be transformed for the good. And so, we gather here this morning to remember and to celebrate God’s presence here amongst us and to be strengthened by His word and His presence in the Eucharist.”
Many students participated in Mass including junior Sofia Santa, and seniors Tristan Korfonta and Finn Doyle, who did the readings; and seniors Erin Nardella, Emily Ball, and Mary Sullivan who read the general intercessions. Sophomore Chris O’Connor and senior Nate Vault were the altar servers and junior Joey Sayles carried the cross. Gift bearers were Nick Menar (7th grade); Ally Uryniak (8th grade); Phil Tangredi (9th grade); Andrew Nardella (10th grade); Max Lachut (11th grade); and Maria Canzano (12th grade).
The Chorus, along with some instrumental and vocal soloists, provided the music for the Mass.
Principal Paul Gasparini commissioned the senior class. The seniors were seated with their seventh-grade buddy at Mass.
