A Letter From President Matthew Keough
Dear CBA Community,
I am excited to share some wonderful news! After a thorough evaluation, the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools (MSA-CESS) has officially recommended CBA for reaccreditation. This endorsement reflects our identity as a school—a community deeply rooted in excellence and a shared commitment to shaping young men and women of faith, knowledge, and service. The visiting team was not only impressed by our school, but they were also "moved and inspired" by the unmistakable Lasallian spirit that fills our halls every day.
A Profound Affirmation of Our Mission
The Middle States visiting team, led by Mr. Artoun Hamalian, spent this past week immersed in the life of CBA—meeting with students, faculty, staff, parents, and board members. In his closing remarks, Mr. Hamalian expressed his deep admiration for our school:
"This experience has been both inspiring and uplifting. Throughout our time here, we have been moved by witnessing the vibrant Lasallian spirit of faith, service, and community that permeates every aspect of life at CBA. This spirit, so beautifully expressed in our conversations, has left a lasting impression on us and will remain with us long after we depart from your remarkable school and faith-filled community."
One of the aspects that stood out most to the team was CBA’s unique balance of tradition and innovation—a concept I often refer to as "creative fidelity." Mr. Hamalian recognized and embraced this idea, praising CBA’s ability to stay true to its mission while continuously evolving to meet the needs of today’s students:
"The spirit of growth and improvement, deeply rooted in the Lasallian mission, is evident in the academy's history of deliberate growth and expansion over the decades. CBA embodies the essence of creative fidelity—a steadfast commitment to its core mission while embracing innovative ways to adapt and thrive."
Most importantly, the team recognized that CBA’s strength lies in its people—our faculty, students, families, and alumni who bring our mission to life every day. Mr. Hamalian shared:
"Walking through the hallways, visiting classes, and engaging with teachers, students, and parents, we have been deeply moved by the passion, mutual trust, and spirit of appreciation that unite the community."
Gratitude for Our Community’s Dedication
This incredible milestone was made possible through the collective efforts of so many individuals. I want to extend my deepest gratitude to:
- Marijane Finley, our Internal Middle States Coordinator, for her exceptional leadership and dedication throughout this process.
- Chris Harrigan '90, Chair of our Board of Trustees, and Kathy Wiese, Vice Chair, for their unwavering commitment to CBA’s mission and future.
- Principal David Marshall ’02, whose vision, passion, and dedication to our students and faculty are at the heart of our success.
- Our faculty and staff, whose tireless efforts ensure that CBA remains a place of excellence and formation.
- Our students and families, whose faith, enthusiasm, and commitment to CBA’s mission make this community truly extraordinary.
Looking Ahead
As we celebrate this incredible affirmation of our mission, we are reminded that accreditation is not simply about meeting standards—it is about embracing a continuous journey of faith, learning, and growth. While this reaccreditation confirms the strength of our foundation, it also challenges us to build upon it boldly—deepening our commitment to academic excellence, fostering an ever-stronger spirit of community, and guiding our students to become compassionate, faith-filled leaders.
Saint John Baptist de La Salle said,
"To touch the hearts of your students is the greatest miracle you can perform."
This is the heart of our Lasallian mission. Every lesson taught, every act of kindness shared, and every moment of mentorship offered at CBA is a reflection of that sacred calling. As we look ahead, we do so with the confidence that our work is making a lasting impact—not only in the lives of our students today but in the world they will shape tomorrow.
Thank you for your passion, dedication, and belief in Christian Brothers Academy. Together, as a Lasallian family, we will continue to inspire, educate, and form young people who will lead with wisdom, serve with compassion, and live with faith.
With deep gratitude and unwavering enthusiasm for the future,
Mr. Matthew Keough
President, Christian Brothers Academy
