CBA Prepares For Middle States Re-Accreditation

Since early 2024, CBA has been preparing for its re-accreditation by the Middle States Association of Schools. In late March 2025, CBA is scheduled to host a visit by educators from various schools who will assess the school in a variety of ways. To this end, CBA, through an Internal Coordinator (Marijane Finlay) and a Planning Team, is diligently working with various groups of stakeholders on a Self-Study document, which is part self-assessment and part planning for the future. In a collaborative effort, CBA has formed three Objectives to be implemented for the next several years. (See below)

As part of the visit and the self-study, Mrs. Finlay will be working with student and parent groups to get input and ideas. If you would like to be a part of a group, please email Mrs. Finlay at [email protected]. The group will meet twice with Mrs. Finlay and with the Middle States team at the time of the visit.

Organizational Objective #1

Objective: By the year 2032, Christian Brothers Academy will increase the number of faculty and staff participating in outside professional development programs each year by 20%.

Baseline: The average number of faculty and staff participating in outside professional development for the years 2019-2024 was 10.

Student Performance Objective #1

Objective: CBA is a college preparatory school striving for excellence. We believe that the rigor of AP courses prepares students for academic success in a college environment. Our goal is to increase the percentage of graduates who have taken at least one AP course. By the year 2032, CBA will increase this percentage by two percent (2%).

Baseline: For the year 2023-24, 83% in the combined grades 11 and 12 took at least one AP course.

Organizational Objective #2:

Objective: In 2024, CBA opened the new Dan Byrne ‘70 Performing Arts Center with a focus on giving students opportunities to develop their talents and build confidence. It is important to develop the best use of this facility so that all of our CBA community can benefit from its use. By the year 2032, CBA students will have opportunities to develop their skills in diverse areas of the creative and performing arts, in educational areas such as assisting in implementation of Next Generation Standards of “speaking and listening” with events that enhance their academic and personal lives. By the year 2032, CBA will develop the best use of the facility by increasing the number of diverse opportunities for students and stakeholders to use the facility to 20 or more different events.

Baseline: In the year 2023-2024, there were 11 different types of events held in the PAC. These included orchestra rehearsal and performance, band rehearsal and performance, choral rehearsal and performance, the Jr. High musical, Sr. High musical, a Shakespeare class, athletic signing ceremony, and invited speakers.
