CBA has announced that Jeremy Boltus has been named head coach of the boys varsity lacrosse team.
Boltus replaces Ryan Powell, who has decided to step down to focus on his growing business and family commitments.
“We feel that there was a great improvement in our team from the beginning to the end of last season,” said Buddy Wleklinski, Director of Athletics. “We look forward to that trend continuing.
“We appreciate all that Coach Powell has done for our players and contributed to our program. CBA wishes him well in the future,” Wleklinski added.
Boltus played collegiately at West Point, where he earned first team All-American honors in 2011. After college, he had an outstanding career as a player and as an assistant coach. Last summer, he worked as an assistant coach for the Denver Outlaws of the Premier Lacrosse League. He has been a member of the varsity staff for the last three seasons.
“I am excited and grateful to take over as head lacrosse coach at Christian Brothers Academy and appreciate the faith that Coach Wleklinski and the entire institution has placed in me,” Boltus shared. “I look forward to embracing the challenges ahead and ultimately want to keep building on the winning tradition of this program.”
Boltus retains assistant coachesTom Grimm and Mike Holdridge on his staff.
Powell coached the Brothers for the past three seasons, leading them to the Sectional semifinals in his first year as head coach in 2022.
“Recently I made the decision to step down from my coaching position at CBA to focus more on my growing lacrosse company, Powell Lacrosse, and most importantly to spend more time with my three children,” Powell said. “I would like to thank Mr. Wleklinski and Mr. Keough for the opportunity these past three seasons. It was a valuable and rewarding experience in my lacrosse journey. The CBA community is special in so many ways. I’m confident the program is in good hands under my good friends, Jeremy Boltus, Tom Grimm and Mike Holdridge. Thanks to the entire CBA family for the support. I wish the staff and the CBA lacrosse players the very best moving forward.”
