Union in a Community

April 28, 2023

Perhaps the most inspiring aspect of my role as the President of CBA is the opportunity that I have to witness daily "miracles" across our entire community - students, faculty members, staff members, alumni, parents, and friends of the school. I use "miracle" not in the "Saintly" kind but to describe the presence of God at work. These stories of "miracles," of recognizing the presence of God, come in the form of a student finally believing in themselves through their involvement in a performance group. They come in the form of graduate recognizing God working through their CBA teachers to form them as faithful, loving, authentic, and contributing adults. They come in the form of parents who often sacrifice the worldly goods of their peers to ensure the education of mind, body, and spirit of their child.

De La Salle said, "Union in a community is a precious gem, which is why the Lord so often recommended it to His apostles before He died. If we lose this, we lose everything. Preserve it with care, therefore, if you want your community to survive."

From when I started these weekly reflections in 2021, I hope that they have helped to strengthen the union within our community. Our theme throughout this school year has been, "founded by one, sustained by many." These stories connect us together through our common bond - our belief in the transformational power of the Lasallian educational mission.

I am very proud of the many different ways that we communicate with all of you! I encourage you to take a moment to update your physical address in our database to ensure that you receive our Alumni Magazine and other CBA publications. You can update your information through this link.

Please also consider strengthening our community through your engagement with us on the following social media platforms. You can read, watch or connect with our CBA family by following us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, or LinkedIn.

When De La Salle founded schools he did not take on the task alone - he founded a community of Brothers. Today, that has expanded beyond Brothers to include all individuals who are committed to De La Salle's Mission. We call ourselves Lasallians.

May the union in our community continue to thrive so that the vision of our Founder lives on through the "miracles" each day!
