Our Newest New York State Champion
March 17, 2023
This past Saturday, our own sophomore, Eliana Occhino was crowned the NEW YORK STATE CHAMPION in girls bowling! Eliana won the individual state championship by 38 pins - achieving a game-best 247 and bowling a 200-or-better in each of her six sets.
This success comes as no surprise to our local CBA community… Eliana finished second in the sectional tournament when she was in 7th grade! This qualified her for the state tournament which was abruptly canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2021, due to the continued impact of the pandemic, there was no sectional and no state competition.
Eliana roared back in 2022 and had the highest average score of any high school girl bowler in the country! Eliana rolled an average of 236.13! This is the third best average of all time.
Eliana has posted a perfect 300 game and had two high series of over 800! All of these accomplishments have brought national recognition in USA Today and several other publications.
In addition to her athletic accolades, and despite a rigorous practice and tournament schedule, Eliana is also tremendously successful in the classroom - maintaining nearly a 96 average. Most importantly, she is loved by all of her classmates and teachers as a humble and kind classmate and Brother.
Eliana is coached at CBA by Mr. Colin Conroy '04. Coach Conroy has led a young bowling program to 3 league championships in the past 4 years and supported the development of Eliana and her teammates.
Congratulations, Eliana! We are proud of you! Our newest NEW YORK STATE CHAMPION who continues to build on our tradition of excellence in extracurriculars and academics!
Go Brothers!
