More Than a Stage
December 08, 2023
A parable in the Gospel of Matthew, Chapter 25, tells of a man going on a journey who entrusted his servants with his wealth. One servant wisely leveraged his master’s possessions to yield even more. Another nervously buried his master’s gold in the ground for safekeeping. When the man returned he had only praise for the wise servant, proclaiming, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Since you were faithful in small matters, I will give you great responsibilities. Come, share your master’s joy.” The other servant was rebuked and sent away.
We are all called to recognize the unique gifts that God has given each of us, to nurture these talents, and to discern how to use them to build the Kingdom of God. As a Lasallian Catholic school, this parable speaks to the very heart of our mission - to encourage each young person to refrain from burying their gifts, but rather to cultivate them in order to positively impact the world.
In a very rigorous demonstration of Matthew’s parable, the grand opening of the Dan Byrne Performing Arts Center next Friday brings us full circle in our mission. Thanks to a generous and wise investment of time, talent, and treasure, for the first time in our school’s history, our performing arts students will walk onto their own stage! I invite you to share in this Brothers pride on our very own Rocklyn Stage of the Dan Byrne Performing Arts Center!
This milestone in our institution's remarkable history is an achievement that will provide a multitude of opportunities for our students to grow their talents and impact our community.
Please consider joining us on Friday, December 15, 2023 at 7:00 PM as we celebrate the grand opening of the Rocklyn Stage in the Dan Byrne Performing Arts Center. Student and alumni performances will present the sights and sounds of the season. All proceeds from the event will support our arts program. Please visit http:bit.ly/PACenter to purchase tickets or to make a donation for the Performing Arts at CBA.
I look forward to having you join us in celebration of this extraordinary step in our institutions history. It is far more than a stage, it is the celebration of the joy found within the recognition, cultivation, and sharing of the amazing talents of our students!
Live Jesus in Our Hearts!
