Founder's Day
May 24, 2024

Yesterday, our CBA Syracuse community celebrated Founder’s Day - a day to recognize Saint John Baptist de La Salle, the founder of the Institute of the Brothers of the Christian Schools. Founder’s Day celebrates La Salle through our students’ lived experience of the Five Core Principles of Lasallian education: Concern for the Poor, and Social Justice; Faith in the Presence of God; Respect for All Persons; Inclusive Community; and Quality Education. Each year, we celebrate Founder’s Day on the last day of school for our seniors, recognizing the impact of their Lasallian education.

This year, Founder’s Day included a school-wide mass, celebrated at Alibrandi Stadium by Father John Manno, followed by the “Senior Walk-through” when our entire school community greeted members of the Class of 2024. Each year, the “Senior Walk-through” offers the seniors an opportunity to receive congratulations and thanks, express their gratitude, and say goodbye to friends and teachers. This tradition has led to many emotional tributes to the powerful experiences and shared relationships of our seniors throughout their time at CBA.

This is our 12th school-wide celebration of Founder’s Day - a day that has become a treasured tradition among our students and a special day for our senior class and their families. The inaugural Founder’s Day was started with the vision that the last day for our seniors should be a celebration of their Lasallian Catholic experience. The day has become a modern highlight of the original founding story from centuries ago - community, relationships, excellence, service to others, and faith. I offer my sincere appreciation to faculty member Mrs. Webster for her coordination and leadership of the day. Congratulations to the CBA Class of 2024 and Happy Founder's Day to our CBA family!

Sincerely,

Mr. Matthew Keough
President, Christian Brothers Academy

"Let us celebrate the feast of Saint John Baptist de La Salle by recommitting ourselves to faithfully and zealously care for each other an all of God's creation."
