CBA students returned to school on Thursday, Sept. 8 and Friday, Sept. 9 for two half-day orientation sessions.
Students showed their Brothers pride, wearing purple and gold on Thursday.
The day kicked off with music playing in the background and a spirited group of cheerleaders and members of Student Senate greeting students as they made their way into the building. Each student received a fist bump from new Principal Paul Gasparini.
Following prayer and activities in homerooms, the students made their way to the gym, as each class carried a banner representing their graduation year. Seniors met their seventh-grade buddies for the new school year and handed them a bracelet.
President Matt Keough and Principal Gasparini welcomed the students. The cheerleaders taught and led the entire student body in a few cheers. And, members of chorus sang the Alma Mater.
Each class participated in their own community building games, with the seniors leading the new seventh graders.
Alumni Edward Terzolo ’77, Honorable Christina DeJoseph ’99 and Tommy Pirro ’15 reflected on their CBA experience and how it formed who they are personally and professionally.
It was a busy day on Friday, as students filled out paperwork, received their locker combinations and planners, took their pictures for the yearbook, had class meetings, and participated in a prayer service in front of the Grotto on day two of orientation.
In addition, the school was pleased to welcome back Jim Cavale ’00 and Bruce Williams ’05 to talk to the students.
Cavale is the founder and CEO of INFLCR, a company that provides brand-building technology to assist institutions’ athletes in maximizing their NIL (Name, Image and Likeness) value. Cavale discussed the importance for students to build their in-person and digital brand.
Williams is a former Syracuse University football player and captain and is currently an assistant coach for the Varsity football team. William provided a 30-minute inspirational talk on respecting self and others and talked about the importance of the three “r’s”-respect, relationships and reputation.
The first full day of school is Monday, Sept. 12.
